    Position Description Summary: Accumulate, analyze and report on a variety of financial, operational, and/or technical data used in the decision-making process to arrive at profitable pricing strategies in the Ocean Freight Industry. Perform analysis to determine impact on company performance from their specific functional area of expertise. Identify and implement projects that improve and/or automate current processes. Monitors competitive activity, and identifies customer needs. Principal Accountabilities (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations): * Creation and/or updating of quotations using service contracts, offers from Carriers / Vendors and/or by following Company’s rate guidelines. * Develop an understanding of the pricing models and principles used to arrive at collective pricing decisions and business propositions. * Rate and cost reviews, analysis and P&L sheets, supporting intra and inter departments. * Assist with procurement with Carriers / Vendors, involving direct or indirect negotiations. * Utilize and maintain reporting/data integrity for both internal and external reporting needs. * Maintenance of centralized Revenue Management systems/data bases and other departmental database to ensure timely and accurate information. * Prepares data for uploading into the Company’s Pricing System(s). * Uploads, updates and maintains service providers’ contract rates and surcharges for different transportation modes into Company’s System(s). * Access to the Pricing System(s) data base to audit the System(s) for accuracy analysis as well as to extract information for reports requested by management. * Generates and maintains rate summary lists, commodity lists, surcharge tables. * Generates and/or maintains historical data and reports including, but not limited to, rates, surcharges, volume of shipments. * Assist in developing the financial tools that will result in more accurate customer profitability assessment and decision-making. * Participate in projects and initiatives to support yield improvement and revenue growth. * Special projects, analysis reports and projections as requested by Management. * Occasionally works as backup for other Co-workers within Trade Department.

    Knowledge and Skills: Business Skills: Excellent communication skills and comprehension - oral and written. Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel at "Power User Level", and have the ability to learn and use other applications. Works well with little supervision; able to function with little social interaction. Special Knowledge: Minimum 1-3 years ocean freight industry experience. Ocean freight pricing experience is preferable. Geography of ocean ports and hubs, especially Asia and North America. Must be constantly up to date with Industry standards and general market conditions. Basic Programming (VBA, Python) and Power BI Query considered an asset. Soft Skills: Detail-minded, analytical, and able to concentrate for extended periods of time - Excellent organizational skills. Able to meet strict deadlines in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment.
