    Position Description Summary

    The Manager, Health and Safety reports to the Site Manager. The incumbent key role is to process, maintain and to manage the Health and Safety Administrative functions. The Manager, Health and Safety needs to be well organized along with exception time management skills and computer literate with a strong working knowledge of all programs in MS Office. The Manager, Health and Safety also must possess good communication skills, both written and verbal and thrives in a fast paced environment.

    Principal Accountabilities

    • Monitors WCB program to ensure cost containment, compliance with existing law and to provide adequate service to employees.  
    • Establishes and maintains a modified work program for employees with restrictions.
    • Establish organization-wide standards and best practices including developing policies, procedures, and workflows for safety and security.
    • Plan, organize, direct and control activities to ensure delivery of all Health & Safety plan objectives and targets.
    • Work closely with operations to identify risks and develop / implement a control methodology for these risks.
    • Ability to deliver annual mandatory training.
    • Works as a liaison between the Site and Coordinator proofing documentation, issues or queries.
    • Ensures/follow up on time limits and documentation.
    • Proactively works with Site in addressing or identifying any client issues, cost saving or opportunities or initiatives that may benefit the organization.
    • Follows all corporate policies and procedures pertaining to Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Fulfill all duties and responsibilities pertaining to Health and Safety under the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    Knowledge and Skills

    • Degree in Health & Safety or related field
    • Has minimum 3-5 years in a Management position.
    • This position requires a minimum of 5 10 years related experience in Occupational Health & Safety and Workplace Safety environment.
    • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, Workplace Safety & Insurance Acts, fire and building codes.
    • Advanced proficiency with MS Office.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task, adapt to changing priorities, attention to detail, and ability to deliver on time sensitive deadlines.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and experience providing services and support to various levels of customers internal and external.
