    The VoloDrone

New video of the heavy-lift cargo drone released.

It took flight once again. Once more, DB SCHENKER and Volocopter showcased what the logistics of the future could look like by releasing an exclusive new video of the seamless integration of the heavy-lift cargo drone, VoloDrone, into the supply chain. See it for yourself:

The VoloDrone – what has happend so far

DB SCHENKER has been a strategic investor of Volocopter, the pioneer of urban air mobility, for more than two years. In late 2021, Volocopter and DB SCHENKER used the first public flight to demonstrate how drone operations could extend the existing logistics infrastructure for land or sea transportation to create entirely new supply chains and transportation routes.

    About Volocopter

Volocopter is building the world’s first sustainable and scalable urban air mobility ecosystem to bring affordable air taxi services to megacities worldwide. Volocopter is leading the way and has joined forces with partners in infrastructure, operations, and air traffic management to build the ecosystem needed to ‘bring urban air mobility to life,’ as per its company slogan.

In 2011, Volocopter performed the first-ever crewed flight of a fully electric multicopter and had since conducted numerous public flights with its full-scale aircraft.

The VoloDrone – the sky has no limit

The VoloDrone has the capacity to change the logistics industry. The first public flight was one possible application, with many other opportunities. This technology will be able to serve clients’ demands with fast, emission-free, remote, and urban deliveries.

In the future, the VoloDrone will improve the supply chain not only in metropolitan areas but also in hard-to-access mountainous areas or via shore-to-ship services so that DB SCHENKER can serve up an even more comprehensive range of solutions to their customers. In addition, Volocopter is working on its own vertiports, or VoloPorts (terminals for vertically landing and taking off), and the VoloIQ (software for routing, infrastructure management, fleet management, and much more). So, the following years promise incredible milestones for future logistics.
