Adjustments regarding ETS and Road Tax Surcharges
EU Emission Trading System (ETS) - ETS Surcharge, increases
EU Emission Trading System (ETS) - ETS Surcharge, increases
As we have previously informed, in connection with the EU's introduction of ETS, a schedule was provided for how much of the shipping companies' CO2 emissions should be covered by purchased quotas. Thus, quotas should be purchased for 40% of emissions for 2024, for 70% of emissions in 2025, and for 100% in 2026. Our current ETS surcharge in 2024 is based on the 40% that shipping companies purchase quotas for in 2024, and we are charged fees on this basis. This will therefore increase to 70% from January 1, 2025. The ETS surcharge we pass on to our customers is therefore expected to increase accordingly from January 1, 2025. Our ETS rates are continuously adjusted based on updates from the shipping companies and are available on our website regarding ETS surcharge Information & Surcharges | DB SCHENKER
Road Tax Surcharges
As we have previously announced, at the turn of the year, road tax will be introduced in Denmark, a tax that necessarily must be passed on to our customers as a surcharge in addition to our transport prices, effective from January 1, 2025. A final clarification is still pending, the Danish Parliament's approval of the tax rates is awaiting and expected in December 2024.
The countries below are adjusting and increasing their road tax, our rates will be updated, and the current surcharges will, as usual, be available on our website regarding Road Tax Surcharge Information & Surcharges | DB SCHENKER
