    Tasks / Key Outcomes:

    • Observation of business, social, ecological, economic, political and technology trends to develop and prepare insights & intelligence for the top management of DB Schenker,
    • Preparation of internal trend newsletters and moderation of Trend Community,
    • Set up, manage, support and further develop dedicated news feeds for various topics 
    • Conduction of quantitative (Trend Survey) and qualitative (Stakeholder Interviews) research,
    • Guiding and empowering teams to explore generated insights and derive concrete innovation and venturing ideas,
    • Deriving  strategic fields of action for future innovation and venturing based on trend insights,
    • Ensure the integration of the focus fields into the subsequent innovation and venturing processes,
    • Ensure internal acceptance and meaningful results to internal & external stakeholders by the proactive content generation and marketing of trend research activities and its results,
    • Plan, align and facilitate customer workshops to identify fields for collaboration and to foster customer retention,
    • Contribute to a culture of innovation on a global level. 

    To be successful in the above role, the incumbent should possess/ display the following key skills/ attributes:

    • A relevant university master degree in an ideally innovation and logistics-related discipline. Preferred course of studies are trend research, marketing & communication, innovation, design thinking, business administration, logistics, engineering.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills (preferably experience in moderating communities and communicating research results to internal & external stakeholders)
    • Experience in methods: Design Thinking, Lean Startup, Scenario Planning and new business model development. Previous experience in workshop facilitation is welcomed.
    • Curious about new trends, technologies, emerging markets, and business models - always looking for opportunities to translate this knowledge into actionable insights.
    • Several years of professional experience in R&D, innovation, consulting or related field.
    • Strong experience in trend & market research, creativity methods and agile methodologies with a strong focus on customer centricity.
    • Ability to take complex issues and translate them into a compelling action plan.
    • Structured and conceptual problem solver with a high degree of pragmatism.
    • Excellent partner management and relationship building skills with the ability to encourage trust and influence outcomes
    • Project management skills, preferably acquired in an innovation context
    • Comprehensive understanding of innovation in various contexts
    • Exceptional interpersonal, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
    • Willingness to work in a cross-cultural context and occasionally travel for business purposes 
    • Strong networker, relations to R&D networks and ecosystems is a plus
    • Collaborative, proactive, independent, and self-reliant working style
    • Very good MS Office knowledge (Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
    • Fluency in English and German, both written and spoken, further languages are a plus

    The position is located in Frankfurt/Main or Essen, Germany. Our interdisciplinary Global Innovation team is looking for a candidate who will contribute to insights & intelligence activities focused on tracking the direction of change in supply chain industry: identification of emerging trends, trend research (quantitative, qualitative, environment scanning) as well as synthesis, preparation and communication of results (generated insights) to internal & external stakeholders.

    • Identification of emerging industry trends,
    • Support Trend & Market Research activities,
    • Conduct general and topic specific quantitative and qualitative research,
    • Analyse trend & market research results and provide insights for internal & external stakeholders,
    • Communicate results of environment scanning, trend research and generated insights (incl. content generation and marketing of trend research activities and results).
    • Align Schenker’s strategic orientation with the development of relevant trends in coordination with stakeholders
