DB Schenker U.S. Land Transport Honored as a 2024 HDT Top Green Fleet
DB Schenker U.S. Land Transport has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability and its approach to reducing environmental impact, earning a spot on Heavy Duty Trucking’s (HDT) Top Green Fleets list for 2024.
This is the first year as a Top Green Fleet for DB Schenker, but USA Truck, acquired by DB Schenker in 2022, was honored in 2018.
Each year, HDT identifies 15 trucking operations that are leading the way in environmental stewardship. These companies are recognized for their innovative strategies in fuel and freight efficiency, the adoption of alternative fuels and powertrains, the development of zero-emission (Scope 1) options, and the implementation of cutting-edge resource-oriented facilities. The award also considers the companies’ sustainability goals, their willingness to share experiences, and other green accolades received.
DB Schenker U.S. Land currently operates two battery-electric trucks and utilizes renewable diesel to fuel part of its fleet. The company is committed to optimizing fuel efficiency by achieving the best possible MPG engine settings and selecting fuel-efficient transmission and rear-end ratio specifications. Additionally, DB Schenker has integrated solar panels, MirrorEye camera systems, SmartWay-approved tires, and the most effective aerodynamic packages available.
The U.S. Land facilities are equipped with low-energy LED lighting and feature carefully managed thermostat settings for the shop interiors. Smart chargers are used at battery recharging stations, and the purchasing of fossil-fuel-burning boost-off equipment has been eliminated, opting instead for capacitor jump-start equipment.
The HDT award, combined with DB Schenker’s recent designation as a 2024 SmartWay High Performer, highlights the company’s proactive approach to sustainability and its commitment to setting a high standard for environmental responsibility in the transportation industry.
