    Your tasks

    Job Location: This role will be based in Germany (Hamburg) or Rotterdam (Netherlands)
    Job Purpose
    • Develop and Growth relationship and future business with targeted carriers.
    • Develop a carrier pool for DB Schenker considering DB Schenker requirements.
    • 3Point of contact for Global Projects & Industry Solutions team charter enquiries
    • Point of contact for carriers for inquiries and quotes.
    • Chartering role like "acting" as broker between internal customer/colleagues and external carriers.
    • Lift the co-operation between carriers and DB Schenker in the region.
    • Growth and develop the chartering team and knowledge in Europe.
    • Actively respond to internal DB Schenker request for solutions & prices from carriers and have direct local relationship with the relevant stakeholders from carrier side.
    • Work in close cooperation with the local & regional business development team, to develop innovative solutions to ensure DB Schenker growth the ocean chartering business.
    • Educate business development on chartering and if required in the sales/solution discussion with clients.
    • Ensure ocean chartering is undertaken safely and compliant with DB Schenker guidelines and operation procedures.
    • Minimise DB Schenker liability exposure on charter bookings via carrier/vessel vetting and negotiating favourable terms with carriers and or clients.
    • Reporting functional to Head of Global Chartering.
    Key Tasks
    • Growth the regional/local chartering team, be a central focal point together with other regional and the global chartering team members.
    • Receive enquiries from DB Schenker Global Projects & Industry Solutions Team for Ocean charters with cargo origin Europe.
    • Analyse enquiries and determine strategy and solution for the charter scope and most suitable carrier to win the bid/tender.
    • Able to create an overview and present pricing and solution recommendations.)
    • Assist colleagues / business development to quote customers.
    • Drive competitive pricing, compliance, and carrier management.
    • Translate and explain pricing/requirements internally as well as DB Schenker/Client requirements externally towards carriers.
    • Initiate, explore all possibilities options for optimal results.
    • Drive and support agreed pricing process, data quality and compliance.
    • Ensure competitive pricing through usage of various benchmarking tools.
    • Being a Subject Matter expert for colleagues and Clients.
    • Support and Assist other Chartering Regions when required.

    Requirements

    Qualifications/Experience
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience/qualification
    • More than 10 years relevant business experience in project chartering, heavy lift

    • Subject matter expert who applies advanced knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience.
    • Manage projects / processes, working independently with limited supervision.
    • Problems faced are difficult and sometimes complex.

    • Connect with and influence Global Projects & Industry Solutions Team.
    • Work together with other chartering brokers located in the region and countries.
    • May convince others to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches.
    • Build strong, trusting cross-functional relationships with DB Schenker colleagues.
    • Understand customer and key stakeholders' interests and concerns and advise direct reports, customers, and key stakeholders.
    • Provide technical and commercial guidance to line managers and employees.
