Exceptional Diesel Price Increase Measure

After wages, fuel costs are the biggest cost item in the transport industry. Land transport in Europe has been heavily influenced by cost-driving factors for months, particularly the rising price of fuel. The prices for diesel fuel have risen by more than 25% in the last weeks and the current situation, in particular the Ukraine crisis, leads to the fact that this development still significantly aggravates.

As of March 15th, 2022, we have introduced a fuel surcharge of +7,5% on the freight rates that covers the increase up to € 1.80/ liter. Diesel. In addition, as from an average diesel price of € 1.85 per liter onwards, in the so-called "floating model" the diesel surcharge rises by 1 percent points if the index rises by 0.04 €/ liter compared to a base price of 1.85 €/ liter. The weekly average will be used as index for consignments in the following week. The average will be calculated each Friday or next working day the latest. We publish an up-to-date summary of the diesel surcharge every week. DB Schenker bases its calculations for this diesel component on the "Index of the Ministry of Development, Competitiveness, Infrastructure, Transport and Networks - Liquid Fuel Price Observatory (fuelprices.gr)".
