Pioneering the Future of Sustainable Logistics: DB SCHENKER Expands Its Electric Fleet
A New Era for Electric Line Haul Transport: DB SCHENKER Deploys First 10 eTGX Trucks
By deploying the 10 eTGX Trucks into the fleet, DB SCHENKER is taking another step towards sustainable logistics and in January these fully electric semitrailer tractors were handed over in Munich and immediately dispatched to ten DB SCHENKER locations across Germany. From there, they will be used in low-emission shuttle and line haul transport, further strengthening DB SCHENKER’s dedication to environmentally friendly freight solutions.
Ralf Többe, Head of Land Transport at DB SCHENKER in Germany: “After extensively testing the eTGX last year, I am convinced of the model and its potential in operations. The ability to use Ultra Low Liner configurations with Megatrailers is particularly valuable, as it allows us to use the trucks specifically in the automotive sector, but also in other areas with high cargo space requirements. By integrating the first vehicles into our fleet across Germany, we are taking a significant step in the right direction to shape the future of sustainable freight transport in a sustainable and responsible way.”
The eTGX is the first electric truck in its class capable of pulling trailers with an interior height of three meters, making it ideal for high volume transport. With a range of approximately 500 kilometers, it is perfectly suited for daily line haul operations. By 2026, DB SCHENKER plans to integrate 100 of these e-trucks into its fleet, reinforcing its long-term commitment to decarbonizing logistics.
Leading the Charge in Long Distance Trucking
A key pillar of the sustainability strategy of DB SCHENKER is the transition to electric transport. By expanding its electric fleet, the company is setting new standards for emissions reduction in long-haul logistics. The use of high-volume Megatrailers, combined with fully electric propulsion, significantly cuts CO2 emissions while maintaining the efficiency and reliability that customers expect.

A Commitment to Urban Logistics
Beyond long-haul transport, DB SCHENKER is also enhancing its urban distribution network. In addition to the eTGX, the logistics provider has signed an agreement for the delivery of 50 MAN eTGL electric trucks, which will be available from 2026. These 12-ton vehicles will strengthen the last-mile delivery operations of DB SCHENKER, providing an emissions-free solution for urban logistics.
Investing in the Future: Infrastructure and Training
DB SCHENKER demonstrates its commitment to sustainability by investing not only in vehicle procurement but also in charging infrastructure and driver training to ensure a seamless transition to e-mobility. By adopting advanced charging technologies, including high-power options, DB SCHENKER optimizes vehicle utilization and reduces downtime. Additionally, drivers receive specialized training to enhance the efficiency of regenerative braking and energy management in electric trucks.
A Sustainable Future Supported by Partnerships
To support its transition to e-mobility, DB SCHENKER is collaborating with industry leaders and policymakers to develop solutions that accelerate the adoption of electric transport. The first 10 MAN eTGX trucks have been deployed with support from the TIP Group, a key partner in flexible vehicle solutions. Additionally, the initial eTrucks are subsidized by the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport under the funding guidelines for climate-friendly commercial vehicles and associated charging infrastructure.
With this significant step, DB SCHENKER reaffirms its leadership in sustainable logistics. By investing in innovative transport solutions, the logistics provider is driving forward the transformation of the logistics industry and reinforcing its commitment to a more sustainable future. DB SCHENKER remains #ontheway to shaping the future of sustainable transport.
