    DB SCHENKER donates to WeForest

Over 300.000 euros collected through internal employee engagement

DB SCHENKER raises over 300.000 euros for the non-profit organization, WeForest, by activating employees through an internal company challenge. Through their 150th-anniversary celebration, the organization gives back by encouraging employees to get active through various mental and physical activities. Kilometers are accumulated through a dedicated app which is converted into a monetary donation. Charitable organizations are carefully selected related to the company’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Jochen Thewes, CEO at DB SCHENKER: “I am incredibly proud of the collective efforts of our people at DB SCHENKER towards a sustainable future, and thankful for each colleague’s engagement because only through all their efforts have we been able to make this donation possible to WeForest. With over 30 million kilometers reached and 300.000 euros raised in only the first quarter, I cannot wait to see what more can be achieved with the remainder of the year.”

    WeForest: Q1 Beneficiary

The funds raised support WeForest for forest conservation projects in Brazil and Ethiopia. In Ethiopia, WeForest works alongside local governments and communities restoring thousands of hectares of forest to reverse desertification. Brazil focuses on boosting biodiversity by planting and protecting over 120 native tree species, including six threatened species.

Jessica Chalmers, Director of Partnerships, WeForest: “Collaboration is fundamental in protecting and restoring the world’s forests. We are delighted to partner with DB SCHENKER for their 150th anniversary campaign – their passion and engagement are inspiring. We are grateful for all the support we’ve received through this partnership which is making a real difference for forests in Brazil and Ethiopia”

    Ocean Conservancy: Q2 Beneficiary

DB SCHENKER announced that the focus would go to Ocean Conservancy for quarter two of the year. The mission is to protect the ocean from the current global challenges: to find science-based solutions for a healthier ocean, and wildlife and communities that depend on it.
