    • Ensure the accurate and timely movement of project-based cargo (mostly ocean and air) to and from specific locations within the service standards agreed with the Customer
    • Handle all Vendor facing communication and shipment related internal communication between DB Schenker stakeholders. Coordinate shipment expedition with various project-based service providers
    • Execute on-carriage services by truck, rail or barge including coordination of all project related ancillary services e.g. lashing and securing, cranage, rigging, staging, cargo pre-inspection 
    • Project Execution – Logistics execution plans, site visits, vessel/airline planning, port assembly, oversee cargo packing, document compliance, customs processes, document flow 
    • Familiar with OOG, Breakbulk, Charter/Part Charter, abnormal cargo expedition. Sound knowledge of the African landscape and its logistics requirements 
    • Client interface and relationship building 
    • Maintain relationships with network counterparts as well as agents 
    • Maintain relationships with service providers in all modes
    • Proficiency on DB Schenker operational platforms with above board process management on all modes :  
    • Arrange forwarding as per client shipping instruction and liaise with foreign offices to expedite shipments in accordance with agreed SOP’s.  Ensure that all shipments are continuously monitored until final delivery or hand-over
    • Monitor shipments for registration status from central team and arrange Customs clearing instructions from client where required
    • Monitor shipment status and review shipments that are Customs cleared in order to prepare for retrieval of cargo from the assigned carrier and prepare for delivery to client
    • Ensure that the correct cost and income accruals are raised on the shipment file and that an Income/Cost reconciliation sheet is prepared in time for the customer invoice to be generated by Central teams 
    • Optimise freight processes, performance and data quality through the updating of the Event Control and ensure a high level of adherence to procedures and assist with the implementation of any improvements as and when required
    • Proactively interact with clients and GPIS global network and provide visible support and information in response to enquiries and queries pertaining to shipment movement, customs queries, updating and submission of client tracking and status reports and KPI’s whilst ensuring complete and timeous close out hereof
    • Ensure that all activities in the area of responsibility are compliant with company specific regulations.
    • Facilitate a seamless and smooth service delivery by assisting clients with any technical matters and documentary requirements related to Air and Ocean freight
    Qualifications, Skills and Competencies
    • Extensive knowledge of the clearing and forwarding industry  
    • Sound knowledge of the Projects fraternity 
    • Matric is essential with a relevant industry Diploma 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics or Commercial will be an added advantage (or studying towards) 
    • 5 - 8 years’ prior experience within Operations is preferred
    • Willingness to acquire new skills and gain knowledge and share best practices
    • Work well under pressure and adhere to deadlines
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Willingness to share knowledge and mentor less experienced team members.
