Meet Philipp - passionate about volunteering
Philipp, International Trainee
In April, our latest trainee group started their program at DB Schenker. One of these trainees is Philipp, working in IT at the Head Office in Germany. Philipp is passionate about digitalization and new trends in IT, and also about tennis. He volunteers at his local tennis club, where he started as a public relations spokesperson and is now the vice-chairman. Find out how his experience as a volunteer helps him at DB Schenker.
"For me, it is important to give something back to society."
Philipp is focused on the business and keen to learn as much as possible in a short time. Besides, sports play a major role in Philipp’s life, especially tennis at this local club. He is aware that sports nowadays in Germany depend on social engagement. Following this, it is unsurprising that Philipp has spent his spare time at his local tennis club engaged in different volunteering projects since he was 16.
“For me, it is important to give something back to society. I want to keep the tennis club in my village – therefore I am keen on supporting it. Further, I have learned a lot from this. For example, finding solutions with a diverse group of people working on a common goal!” - Philipp, International Trainee, DB Schenker
Philipp started with an IOT (Internet of Things) project at GILDS (Global IT Land and Digital Solutions) and then moved on to Global IT Governance. The next station will be in Austria for the rollout of the STAR program in Europe before he does his final station at GDSA (Global Data Strategy and Analytics). He enjoys seeing concepts in practice. IT and Business have always been on his mind when studying in Germany and the USA. He loves sports like tennis, soccer, skiing, hiking, and running. Music is his second love, and you can find him playing all kinds of songs on the piano, which after many years of practice, he can play by heart.
Philipp, thank you for your insights. Enjoy your trainee program and make the most out of it.
