Giuseppe on his way to becoming a sustainability leader

Giuseppe, based in our office in Frankfurt, Germany, has been using this active approach to drive to the office every day. 35 kilometers, 90 minutes per day – Giuseppe rides his bike to work every day, no matter the weather forecast. Giuseppe works as a product manager for our Land Transport business. He is responsible for the introduction of new Land Transport services. For example, he set up the Econeutral (System Freight Econeutral | DB Schenker) option for our DB Schenker system products, with which it is possible for customers to offset transport related carbon foot-print through Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)-certified climate protection projects.
“I like having the opportunity to create something new. At DB Schenker, we have an open spirit and the freedom to develop ideas for new products or services. I like to work with my colleagues because we inspire each other with different opinions, open discussions, and productive meetings. Working at DB Schenker allows me the opportunity to have an impact on the development of the company.”
Sustainability has been a big factor in Giuseppe’s life since he was a little boy:
“I really loved hiking in the mountains as a child. And in the mountain huts, where we had our breaks, there have always been old pictures of glaciers. I was really fascinated by these pictures, and so it became important to me to save nature and the environment since then.”
In his daily life, Giuseppe tries to live as sustainably as possible. He has an electric car, limits his consumption of plastic, and keeps a vegetarian diet as much as he can.
Within our Leading The Way Challenge, during our 150th anniversary, Giuseppe has already collected more than 300 kilometers in the TeamFit App – not only with bicycling but also with other exercises or the Brain Quiz.
