This position serves to manage and oversee the service and utilization within our network regions and is responsible with filling immediate network needs (Same day +2). This position will align with the Director of Planning to fill market load deficits. The individual will have complete oversight, autonomy and authority to negotiate pricing and accept/decline business. The Area Service Manager will work closely with Customer Service to determine freight acceptance and Customer Priority as well as work with Fleet Operations to successful execute in utilization of equipment and on time service.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
• Manage the day to day freight balances within the truckload network
• Communicate and Execute the network plan while putting an emphasis on the utilization of equipment and servicing customer freight
• Oversee the utilization of weekly home time drivers
• Proactively plan the Service Critical Customers within the region
• Engage external brokers as last resort to fill trucks
• Ability & willingness to support planning duties as needed by the business.
• Responsible for attaining monthly individual goals
• Engage with the Customer Service, Sales and Network Teams to stay in tune with new Customer Bids, Scorecards with Customers and other Customer Issues
• Assist area planners in meeting their key objectives and metric goals
• Ensure that trailer pools are being managed correctly and maintained
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• 2 – 4 degree in Business Management, Customer Service or like discipline, or combination of education and service expertise, or customer service/sales experience.
• Advanced communication (written and verbal), organizational, and problem solving skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required to:
• Remain in a stationary position for extended periods of time.
• Frequently operate a computer for extended periods of time and regularly operate other office productivity machines.
• Occasionally ascend/descend stairs and move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
• Frequently communicate with peers, supervisors, third parties, and other employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
• Occasionally attend meetings in buildings outside corporate office and at off-site locations with various internal conditions, and requiring travel in various external conditions.
• Travel domestically as necessary.
