The WorkSpace Solutions Team operates our global WorkSpace platform within DB Schenker. This platform is completely based on cloud services, including Microsoft 365. The technical scope covers the platform and its development, all associated components, and the respective execute build/run tasks.
With the introduction of the new Virtual Workplace solution, we’re now looking for a Virtual Workplace Engineer with documented experience working with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktops and other virtualisation solutions in an enterprise environment. The Virtual Workplace Engineer works in a global team responsible for all global solutions related to desktop virtualisation implementations and operations.
Key tasks & responsibilities
- Execution and rollout support, including different project activities during the initial setup project and later extension of the ‘Virtual Workplace’ solution.
- Drive the development of the overall virtualisation solutions and raise any improvement suggestions that are identified to ensure that our services are on the leading edge of technology.
- Work with other technical teams to support overall service delivery development in the company.
- Manage project tasks in IT infrastructure projects and be responsible for providing project deliverables.
- Provide technical consultancy to application owners and support the implementation of new configurations from the Virtual Workplace perspective.
- Operate and maintain the Virtual Workplace in an Evergreen way to ensure the environment is always up to date.
- Manage the technical operations of the Virtual Workplace implementation, including settings, software packaging, and distributions.
- System operations, maintenance by compliance requirements, quality assurance, and standards development.
- Act as SPOC and work with developers and end users of the infrastructure.
- Coordinate 2nd-level support and provide training and documentation to users and the 1st-level support team.
- Coordinate the ticket solving and ticket routing in “Service Now”.
- Support end users to ensure a stable and always-running service.
- Communicate and coordinate with application owners about changes.
Our requirements:
- Documented technical experience and deep knowledge of the Azure Virtual Desktop solution. Certification(s) such as Azure Virtual Desktop – Virtualization (CCP-V), or Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate are highly desirable. Knowledge of Microsoft Terminal Server and/or Citrix operations and understanding of Citrix farm environment migration to the cloud is a plus.
- Technical experience managing virtual desktop environments in the cloud.
- Experience in solutions rollouts, project work and small team coordination.
- Good understanding of host-pool configuration and deployment in AVD solutions.
- Professional experience in software deployment and software deployment methods.
- Very good PowerShell scripting skills.
- Experience in working with professional technical testing in staged environments.
- Good knowledge of Azure Active Directory and Intune device management.
- Experience working according to professional processes in ITSM and understanding of the processes of service operations management.
- Experience in managing relationships with internal customers.
- Experience in working in an international environment.
- Fluent in the English language, both written and spoken.
- Open to working in hybrid mode (office in Warsaw).
