Job Overview
Ocean Route Sales Manager’s role is to expand Schenker business within designated Trade Lane. The incumbent is expected to market all of Schenker’s Ocean Services to potential and existing clients and support other products as needed. Ocean Route Sales Manager must also be committed to exceeding client expectations while respecting company policies.
What will you enjoy doing (duties/tasks)
- Identifies and brings forward new business opportunities within named trade lane, focusing on US paid business and supporting all network business pipeline opportunities. Establishes a prospecting plan within the named trade by identifies potential clients using knowledge of the market electronic databases, industry trade associations, trade shows, networking events, and consults other sources of information. Prepare action plans
- Identifies decision makers at target/prospect clients
- Identifies and analyze customer needs and develop solutions adapted to client expectations. Maintains a good understanding of client business segment and of solutions proposed by the competition
- Negotiates prices and conditions based on the type of service offering; proposes complementary services
- Maintains regular contact with identified key trade lane customers. Anticipates evolution of customer demands and translate those into service offerings. Obtains a service agreement/contract Follow-up and portfolio maintenance.
- Responsible for ongoing, continuous customer relationship development with attendance at industry networking events, and hosting of customer entertainment meetings
- Gathers and shares with Schenker US Sales team, pertinent market information and data on existing and prospective clients as well as on emerging industry trends and competitor activities
What you need to succeed (Qualifications, experience, skills, attributes)
•Solid interpersonal and analytical skills required
•Generally, prefer 2-5 years of relevant sales experience preferred
•Concrete business examples of sales accomplishments
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills
•Strong negotiation skills
We offer a competitive compensation package that includes a base salary ranging from $110,000 - $150,000 annually, and a comprehensive benefits package. Our benefits package includes paid time off and paid sick time in the first year, health insurance, a 401(k) plan, disability insurance, and more as described in our benefits guide. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as experience, skills, qualifications, performance, geography, and internal equity. Benefits may be subject to waiting periods and other terms and conditions.
