DB Schenker Georgia revolutionizes logistics landscape with new rail transport service for containers from China
DB Schenker is launching a new rail transport service for containers, opening up the fastest possible connection between the two countries of China and Georgia via the Middle Corridor.
This makes the international logistics service provider one of the first providers to offer container transport by rail from China to Georgia. This innovative service promises to revolutionize the import logistics landscape and enables customers to transport goods between the two countries in the fastest and most efficient way.
The new service takes advantage of the strategic advantages of the Middle Corridor, a key component of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). By using this route, DB Schenker ensures a streamlined and efficient transport process and significantly reduces transit times compared to traditional sea routes. Importers can now expect their goods to arrive in Georgia much faster, which not only improves the efficiency of their supply chains but also significantly reduces time to market. Specifically, this means a transit time of 18 – 25 days from China to Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia.
“The launch of the rail container transport service from China to Georgia is a significant milestone for DB Schenker Georgia. This service not only offers the fastest transit time for imported goods, but also underlines our commitment to reliable, cost-effective and sustainable logistics solutions. We are pleased that with this revolutionary solution we can optimally meet the growing needs of companies in Georgia and best support them in their business on the global market,” says George Gamtsemlidze, Country Manager from DB Schenker Georgia.
The Central Corridor crosses several countries and offers a reliable and safe route for goods. From China, the route leads through Kazakhstan, the Caspian Sea, Azerbaijan and finally to Georgia. This multimodal transport system combines rail and sea transport in an efficient way and offers a seamless journey for container goods. This results in other benefits for DB Schenker customers in addition to the shortened transit time. This means that importers can benefit from competitive prices on the optimized route, and delays and disruptions can be largely minimized thanks to DB Schenker's extensive experience and established network. Furthermore, the rail transport service is more environmentally friendly than conventional sea and air transport and contributes to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions.
