Position Description Summary:
The Transportation Manager is responsible for driving business growth of the brokerage by effectively responding to the needs of existing and potential customers in conjunction with the effective sourcing and management of personnel sourcing carriers. Furthermore, the brokerage manager will be responsible for managing a team of employees charged with executing day-to-day business.
Principal Accountabilities (The following is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not an exhaustive list of all expectations.):
· Effectively manage customer relationships
· Generating of business leads internally and externally
· Skilled negotiation of rates & services with clients for FTL & LTL services.
· Oversee the development of carrier and partner database to expand options for service providers making sure they are graded performance, compliance and maintain updated profile of services.
· Follow up on all directed tasks and responsibilities within the department.
· Always look for ways to improve processes and make improvements within the department and personnel assigned to manage.
· Foster growth in brokerage business through collaboration with all Departments and willingness to do "Whatever it takes" to ensure customers’ needs are met

Knowledge and Skills (The following minimum requirements are normal guidelines and should not constrain the advancement of otherwise qualified personnel):
This is a management position. High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferred. Generally prefer 10 years of freight brokerage experience. Previous supervisory/management experience. Expert in ground transportation including FTL brokerage, LTL freight, and intermodal transportation.
