Locations were in Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Irún, La Granada (Barcelona), Madrid, Palma de Mallorca, Sevilla and Valencia. The Spanish branch offices provided the complete range of Schenker's services: from European land transport, international air- and ocean-freight forwarding, organization of international fairs and exhibitions and industrial projects to integrated logistics management.
With the acquisition of Spain-Tir, a new era for DB Schenker and its customers has started now on the Iberian Peninsula:
Spain-Tir, as its own brand name denotes, was born with the spirit of bringing together the Iberian Peninsula and Europe. This goal has been widely accomplished and has positioned Spain-Tir as a reference among the logistics and transport sector. Founded in 1975, the Spain-Tir group has consolidated as the leader in land transport between Europe and the Iberian Peninsula. The Spain-Tir structure comprehends about 158,000 m² of warehouses in order to offer a wide variety of services in integrated logistics, from collection anywhere in the world, to warehousing, customs deposit, management of stocks, picking, packing, final delivery and inverse logistics. Spain-Tir’s fleet consists of 738 vehicles and its human staff of over 1,000 direct employees and some 3,000 people employed indirectly. Since the beginning, the organisation has had an annual sustained growth of over 10 %.
Today, DB Schenker and Spain-Tir offer together a domestic network of 72 branches which allows the organisation to cover all the territory with a high quality service and the latest in technology and information systems for a total tracking of shipments.
