New global Competence Center for supply chain solutions in Singapore
Focus on developing Production Vendor Managed Inventory installations for the Electronics and Industrial Manufacturing sectors
DB Schenker sets up its first global Solution Competence Center outside of Europe. Approximately three million euros will be invested in technology and specialised expertise to develop, support, implement and manage the Production Vendor Managed Inventory (PVMI) solution. With a traditional strength and market reputation within the Electronics PVMI area already established in Asia-Pacific, the Competence Center in Singapore will be the base camp for numerous supply chain experts to engage with customers. The specialists will support development of the solution, and accelerate the roll-out of customized manufacturing logistics solutions for customers within Asia, and also other parts of the globe.

"With Asia as one of the most important growth markets exerting significant influence in Manufacturing and driving global trade flows, our new competence center will serve as an important knowledge base for our customers, to aid them in establishing most effective solutions for their manufacturing supply chain." With over 25 years of experience in Contract Logistics and over 60 installations, DB Schenker has a clear leadership in these vertical markets. "Our new solution competence center is well positioned to be the knowledge hub for supply chain management best-practices and world-class solutions across the electronics and industrial sectors," adds Dr. Trefzger.

DB Schenker’s expertise will also further strengthen Singapore’s manufacturing excellence and ability to help companies navigate the increasingly complex global supply chains."
The PVMI team is scheduled grow to over 20 specialists to support PVMI installations by over ten per year over the next five years, supporting a planned revenue growth of over 150 million euros.
